MADISON, S.D. (AP) — Trial is underway for a Sioux Falls man accused of violating South Dakota election law.

Thirty-two-year-old Republican activist Daniel Willard is accused of sending robo-calls attacking Republican political leaders before the 2012 election without required disclaimers. The charges are misdemeanors. Willard has pleaded not guilty.

A jury was seated Monday in Madison and attorneys on both sides were scheduled to give opening statements on Tuesday. The trial is expected to last through the week.
