In 2019, Reba McEntire will host the ACM Awards for the 19th time, and the country icon says that one of her favorite aspects of the annual awards show is how it brings together the country music community.

"[I love] getting to see all my friends," McEntire tells The Boot. "It's like a family reunion there at the award's show."

This year, McEntire goes on to say, the already action-packed "family reunion" will feature some particularly special guests of honor: For example, the ACM Flashbacks series will return, bringing with it onstage pairings of older and more contemporary artists, performing the hits that continue to resonate most deeply with the genre's audience. In 2019, George Strait will perform alongside Miranda Lambert, and Brooks & Dunn will team up with Luke Combs.

"[What makes the ACM Flashbacks series so special is that] it's bringing new and old country together," McEntire explains. "And singing songs that people can sing along with: relatable songs, songs that they are familiar enough with to sing along. That's very important.

"And besides, having George Strait and Brooks & Dunn on the show is a big thing for the ACMs," she continues. "Everybody's thrilled to death that they're on the show."

The 2019 ACM Awards are set to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., on April 7. The show will air live on CBS beginning at 8PM ET.
