More performers have been added to the 2016 CMA Awards lineup, including one very unexpected (but very welcome) name: Randy Travis.

“The 50th annual CMA Awards will certainly reflect our history," says CMA CEO Sarah Trahern, "but it is equally important to recognize our current nominees and the hits of today."

Skaggs and Clark are former Entertainers of the Year, while Black is a former CMA Awards host. Aldean, Nettles and McBride have won CMA Awards in the past (though Aldean was snubbed when nominations were revealed this year), and Yoakam has been nominated a number of times throughout his career.

Additionally, Stapleton earned six CMA Awards nominations in 2016, while Rhett earned two, and King is nominated for Musical Event of the Year along with Dierks Bentley ("Different for Girls"). A cappella group Pentatonix recently teamed up with Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Dolly Parton for a version of her hit "Jolene" (perhaps they'll perform together?) -- and, of course, Daniels and Travis are Class of 2016 Country Music Hall of Fame inductees.

Since his 2013 stroke, Travis has been largely unable to speak (or sing); in mid-January, one of Travis’ good friends told a newspaper that the country icon’s recovery prognosis is good, and at the announcement of his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in late March, his wife, Mary Davis, called his progress a series of “giant baby steps.” Still, with the exception of a private funeral in early February and his Hall of Fame induction in mid-October, Travis has not sang or even spoken much in public since his stroke (he sang "Amazing Grace" at both events). It's unclear what his performance at the CMA Awards will entail, but no matter how much time Travis spends onstage, his appearance will likely be one of the evening's highlights.

The 2016 CMA Awards will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 2 at 8PM ET on ABC. Paisley and Underwood will return as co-hosts for this year’s show.
