VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Authorities say two male University of South Dakota students have admitted vandalizing a fraternity house on campus because they were drunk and angry about being kicked out of a party.

The university says someone spray painted the words "We date rape" on the side of the Phi Delta Theta house over the weekend. Fraternity members have since washed off most of the paint.

Police Chief Matt Betzen tells the Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan that the two suspects were identified Tuesday, and that they confessed.

Authorities have not released their identities. Betzen says the case has been turned over to the Clay County state's attorney for consideration of criminal charges.

State's Attorney Teddi Gertsma says her initial sense is that the incident won't be treated as a major offense.
