Police Offer Computer Use to File Report
Sioux Falls Police have offered residents the option to file smaller case reports online, however after noticing an issue with those who did not have access to a computer, they decided to bridge the gap.
In the lobby of the Law Enforcement Center at 4th and Minnesota Avenue, a computer terminal has been set up for anyone to use as they file a Police report. Lobby hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Instructions on how to file a report online are also on hand. Non-emergency reports such as vandalism, larceny, lost property or disorderly phone calls can be reported online, provided they do not have any known suspects or evidence to submit.
Sargent Aaron Benson says this will increase efficiency for both residents and officers:
A lot times our officers will have to come off the street because the front desk itself is so busy. We’ll have to ask an officer to come in and take a report if there isn’t a phone reporting person to do it that day. So yeah, then they can work at their own time, their own pace and can make their own reports.
