There could be a brand-new Aldi opening in a South Dakota town, and you could help make that a reality.

Residents in Yankton, South Dakota, are asking officials to bring Aldi to town. This isn't the first time they have been asking, either. There is a Facebook post in a public group

We’ve talked about it for years, and now it’s time to show there’s real demand. Our town and surrounding communities rely on Yankton for grocery shopping, and with only Walmart and Hy-Vee nearby (and the nearest Aldi over an hour away), an Aldi here would make affordable groceries easier for families, seniors, and everyone in our community.

So Is It Possible That Aldi Could Be Calling Yankton Home?

Yankton residents who support the online petition say they are grateful for stores like Hy-Vee in the community. However, it "can be difficult for many families, seniors, and individuals living on tight budgets." Aldi does give shoppers flexibility.

If there are enough signatures on the new petition to bring Aldi to Yankton, then it could become a new location for the popular discount store.

Gone But Not Forgotten - Iconic Sioux Falls: Whiffer's Sandwiches

The Merriam-Webster definition of iconic is "widely recognized and well-established." That would definitely describe Whiffer's Sandwiches which used to call North Minnesota Avenue home.

The gone but not forgotten sandwich shop was located in an old house at 1133 North Minnesota Avenue. It served sandwiches to Sioux Falls from November 1978 until the summer of 2020.
