A portion of the Sioux Falls bike trail between Tomar Park and Cliff Avenue, located along the Big Sioux River, will be temporarily closed to the public beginning Monday (September 11) to allow for reconstruction of the trail.

Detour routes have been identified and will be signed to allow for safe connectivity to the entire trail system. This is the second phase of construction for this project, and it is scheduled to be fully completed later this fall.

The trail counters confirm this section of trail to be the most popular section in town. Total counts at Spencer Park exceed 216,000 users annually, with more than half of them being cyclists.

This project will create a wider trail section, a smoother surface, and better drainage.

Trail users are urged to use caution when near the construction area. See entire layout of Sioux Falls bike trail.
