I recently learned that the costume Judy Garland wore in the 1939 movie 'The Wizard of Oz' was going up for auction in November. And it sparked my mind to think that it would be really cool to own something from one of my favorite movies. But the question is, what? It got me to thinking.

Meanwhile, I wondered about the amount of money I should dream of having available once I decide what I want. Well, our little Dorothy's dress has an expected fetch of somewhere between $400,000 and $600,000.

Sorry, if I'm spending that kind of money for just clothing, this action man is not going to settle for a dress. I want something manly, so I thought harder. I remember one of my heroes, Steve McQueen in his legendary motor racing suit that he wore in famous movie 'Le Mans'. The suit was worn by him in 1971, which was later offered for sale by Toronto's Collector's Studio. I missed it. And I wouldn't have been able to cover the winning bid of $984,000.

Oh' we could really make a list here. Everything from James Bond movies to John Wayne films. 'The Duke's' western outfits or perhaps the military hat he wore in 'Green Berets', which brought $179,000 on auction.

I love cars. So I went on thinking about vehicles from movies. Once again I remembered Steve McQueen, this time the famous Mustang from the movie 'Bullitt'. I still remember the night my dad and I went to that show in 1968.

Other hot cars come to mind like 'The General Lee' from TV's 'Dukes of Hazzard'. Of the many copies, one is owned by pro golfer Bubba Watson. Another one was recently up for sale

And how can I forget 'Smokey and the Bandit'? That black Trans Am would be nice to display. Although not to drive because in a movie documentary I watched one time, Burt Reynolds said that there wasn't much left of the car after filming was done. They pretty much drove the wheels off of it.

To wrap up this story, I have to look at my budget and realize the only car I could afford would be from the 'Bandit' movie. But not the black hot rod that Burt drove, but the patrol car that Jackie Gleason drove. After the roof and doors were completely ripped off, I'm sure it's more in my price range.

But if I had the money and could really own it, I would go with the 'Bullitt' Mustang I talked about earlier in my story.
