No doubt about it!  Your mental health influences your physical health!  A Dutch study concludes that people who described themselves as being highly optimistic had lower rates of cardio vascular death and less risk of any cause of death than people who said they were highly pessimistic.

According to the author of the study: a predisposition toward optimism seemed to provide a survival benefit in elderly people with relatively short life expectancies otherwise.  The power of optimism cannot be over-rated as a factor in success and personal growth.  Optimism allows you to see the positive aspects of any situation and enables you to capitalize on each possibility.

So, this bottom line is this:  positive thoughts create positive results!  And it comes as no surprise that optimism inspires us to tackle the tough times in our lives.  In the words of the late Dr. Norman Vincent Peale:

"An optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.  A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity."
