While working as News Director at the Grand Ole Opry’s WSM Radio in Nashville, Tennessee, I had  the opportunity to broadcast  my “I Love Life” stories daily on the legendary radio station.  I also had the opportunity to write a book featuring some of the top “I Love Life” radio guests.

Once the book was printed, the publisher set a goal!   More than anything else, we wanted to get the book featured on the “Oprah Winfrey Show.”  The problem was---Oprah typically interviews the top authors who have sold millions of books.  As an unknown in the publishing field, we knew scoring an appearance on Oprah would be huge---but not impossible!

My Nashville publisher sent Oprah’s producer a copy of “I Love Life In Spite Of It All.”   What we didn’t know at the time was Oprah was putting together a feature holiday show centered around Jimmy Stewart’s “It’s A Wonderful Life” movie.

I vividly recall getting a call from Oprah’s TV producer who wanted to know about “I Love Life.”  After a lengthy conversation, he asked if I would be willing to fly to Chicago the very next day----and appear with Oprah on her syndicated show to talk about my book.

Who says dreams don’t come true?

At the time, I didn’t know the power and influence of Oprah.  But, shortly after the interview aired, “I Love Life In Spite Of It All” actually sold out in various bookstores throughout the country!

Thank you Oprah!
