Missing Sioux Falls Man Tyler Weathersby: Family Speaks Out

Tyler Weathersby's family sat down with NBC News to share who Tyler is as a person, son, father, business owner, and friend. However, NBC News also learned more details about events before Tyler disappeared.

In a new story from NBC News, Tyler's mother Janine Weathersby was visiting Tyler and his family from August 26th until September 4th to see her new granddaughter. She tells NBC News the trip was good until September 3rd when they got into an argument, which was "out of character'" for Tyler. Here's what the family told NBC News what happened from that argument:

Janine says Tyler drove her to the airport on the evening of September 3rd, even though her flight wasn’t until the next day. She then called her son Gregory to tell him what happened. Gregory put his mother up in a hotel and then tried contacting his brother. He finally got ahold of Tyler, but Gregory said his brother didn’t sound like himself. 'Tyler didn’t sound right. It didn’t sound like Tyler was Tyler and, um, how he normally talks,' Gregory said. 'It was like he was speaking in circles and wouldn’t really explain what happened.'

Tyler's wife MonaLisa also confirmed that Tyler wasn't acting like himself and he was pretty upset.

The family explains to NBC News that they are aware of the questions, speculations, and theories surrounding Tyler's disappearance. They just want him home and safe. The current description of Tyler would be:

  • "Slim build” at about 6’ feet tall and 160 lbs.
  • Dark brown eyes and his head was shaved at the time of his disappearance. Possibly having his hair back and a beard, by now.
  • Has a tattoo of a crown with a halo above it on his right wrist
