OK, let's get this out of the way right here at the beginning.

Yes, John Riggins was a huge star in the National Football League. In fact, if you 'Google' John Riggins, you'll find out everything you wanted (and maybe some things you didn't) about the former Washington Redskin running back.

But that could be changing in the near future. You see, another John Riggins is making his way onto the scene. Not the football scene, but the country music scene.

For those of us that love what I call 'real country music', we have a little left out in the cold in recent years. But the truth is, there is a lot of great 'real' country music out there! From our favorite classic country star's like T.G. Shepard, Gene Watson and the legendary Loretta Lynn releasing fantastic new music to newer artist's who are keeping it country, artist's like Mo Pitney, Teea Goans, Mary Sarah, Adam Fears and Mike Akin.

Now then, let me introduce you to John Riggins, country music artist.

One of the great things about my job is every now and then, in the midst of the noisy bro-country/hick-hop/rap country, a song will come along that makes me stop...and listen. And so it was recently with a song called 'Lonesome Old Guitar' from the album Outlaw Rising.

It's one of those songs that, not only do you really listen, you turn it up. I mean, turn it up loud enough that I had to close my office door. How to describe it? Well, maybe a cup of Waylon, a dash of David Alan Coe, a splash of Jamey Johnson and sprinkled with Ed Bruce.

OK, have I confused you enough? Why not listen yourself below and find out about this Indiana native here.
