More details have surfaced on the man wanted on a federal warrant who was shot and killed by a US Marshal Saturday afternoon in Sioux Falls at 10 Street and Cliff Avenue Lewis parking lot on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 PM, January 2, 2016.

Lonnie Haskell Powers Jr was related to the man that South Carolina authorities say he killed, 55 year old James Anthony Hill of Ridgeville South Carolina, after an argument.

In an exclusive interview, our source in South Carolina says the dispute escalated to the point of gunfire. Autopsy records show Hill had gunshot wounds to his chest shoulder and back, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Although Hill’s girlfriend called police for help on December 13th, the murder is believed to have taken place a day earlier. Hill’s girlfriend stated that she was a witness to the murder, but claims that Powers locked her in a room and she was unable to escape until the next day.

It was not believed to be a love triangle.

Family members in the small community in Berkeley County have many questions as to why the argument escalated to the point of murder, why Powers ended up in an unknown area with no connections to South Dakota and how he was tracked to the area.

Powers phone was pinged within the state of South Carolina when he called his father and may have been tracked to South Dakota, where authorities found him.

The FBI continues to investigate.
