In a perfect world, all animals across the Sioux Empire would have a home. No pet would have to spend time in a shelter.

Unfortunately, some South Dakota furry friends have waited longer than others for a home. These pets can still be inside a shelter for days, maybe even for over a year.

The team at Almost Home Canine Rescue is "dedicated to assisting, rescuing, fostering, and providing a lifetime of love and care for unwanted, homeless, abused, or neglected pets." They are 100%-volunteer-run, and they make it a priority to find loving homes for all dogs and cats.

It's heartbreaking when animals have spent most of their life inside a shelter just hoping for someone to finally pick them. Almost Home Canine Rescue has dogs and cats that are patiently waiting for their second chance. They even highlighted some of their long-term residents in a tear-jerking Facebook post.

Meet Long-Term South Dakota Pets Still Looking For New Homes

These are the long-term residents of Almost Home Canine Rescue who need a little extra love. I even added some bonus pets who also need homes. Can you see one of these friendly faces being part of your family?
