LeAnn Rimes Reimagines ‘How Do I Live’, Turns Song Into ‘a Personal Prayer’ [LISTEN]
LeAnn Rimes has revisited her 1997 hit song, "How Do I Live," in a stripped-down, emotional rendition, which she delivers more than 20 years after releasing the original. Readers can press play above to listen to "How Do I Live (Re-Imagined)."
Written by Diane Warren, the tune reached No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, spending a then-record 69 weeks on the chart in 1997. It also earned the artist a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year in 1998, when Rimes was only 15 years old.
Rimes says this re-imagining of the song happened during her tour last year.
“For my tour last year in the U.S. and UK, we arranged "How Do I Live" in a new way to reflect where I was coming from musically with my last album, Remnants,” Rimes tells Nash Country Daily. “I wanted the arrangement of "How Do I Live" to highlight the vulnerability of Diane’s lyric. It’s more of a spiritual experience singing the song this new way, a personal prayer. After the shows, so many of my fans were asking how to get the new version, so we went in to record it as a ‘thank you’ to my fans ...”
Rimes released her 16th and latest studio album, Remnants, in 2017 and followed it up with the Long Live Love Club Tour in promotion of the project. She will appear at the 2018 Taste of Country Music Festival, which takes place June 8-10 in Hunter, N.Y.; Rimes joins a lineup including Florida Georgia Line, Ashley McBryde, Dustin Lynch and many more country artists.
