KXRB Radio celebrated a special day on Tuesday (2/26). It was the 50th Anniversary of the station first signing on the air.

KXRB first came on the airwaves on February 26, 1969. The very first voice heard on the new radio station was that of a man by the name of Dale Thomas.

The first song played was, "I Take A Lot Of Pride In What I Am" by Merle Haggard. The second song was "Only The Lonely" by Sonny James. The second announcer to come on was Ratt Reno.

I am very proud to say that I have hosted the Morning Show on KXRB for nearly half of those 50 years. It has been been a very fun ride.

Like everything else, 50 years can bring on a lot of changes. KXRB has not been immune to that. However one thing that has weathered thru all the technology, owners and new ideas, is the format.

KXRB started out as a country music station, and has been ever since. As a matter of fact, I played that same Merle Haggard song on my show this morning.

Long time listeners and friends of KXRB, Denny and Wanda surprised Beth and me with a delicious cake in the studio during the show.
