Kids Helping Kids! Young Triathlon Athletes Giving Back
I received this press release that is inspiring, and worth passing along. Kids helping kids!
Ethan (age 10), Emmett (age 8), and Evelyn (age 5) competed in 7 youth triathlons in SD, MN, IA, and NE this summer all placing on the podium at each race earning 21 bikes to give to local foster kids.
This Sunday all 21 bike kits will be put together with the help of the Celebrate Adoption Support Group at a bike build event, along with a full circle moment of foster kids receiving their bikes that same night!
"It is important for our kids to race for something more than themselves when competing in their favorite sport.... Youth Triathlon." Alicia Deegest
With every podium win at youth triathlon events this summer the DeGeest family added a bike donation to local foster kids through Together We Rise and the East River Foster Parent Network!
"We race under the banner of Fellowship of Christian Athletes Endurance Team. Their motto is "Why do you race?" THIS is why we race... living life for another... RACE FOR ANOTHER!"
"2 years ago we adopted our 3 year old daughter Ellery into our family. Since that day, we work to bring awareness to foster care, adoption, as well as celebrating the brave choice of placing for adoption."
