During the first of Kacey Musgraves' four-night residency at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn., the singer had a surprise to share. Not only did her set include a cover of Cyndi Lauper's 1983 classic, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," but she invited Paramore singer Hayley Williams to the stage to help her sing it. Both Williams and Musgraves dressed every bit the part of bubbly '80s rock queens, bouncing around the stage as they duetted, the crowd roaring in appreciation and singing along to the choruses of the song. Lauper's iconic hit has seen its fair share of love from the country community recently: Brandi Carlile name-checked the song in the title of her inaugural Girls Just Wanna Weekend, which featured an all-female lineup, in January of 2019.

The rendition also provided yet another example of Musgraves' versatility. Earlier in the week, the Golden Hour star also performed at the 2019 Houston Rodeo. During that performance, she paid homage to another female idol of a very different background -- Selena Quintanilla-Pérez -- with a cover of "Como La Flor."

Just a couple of months in, 2019 is proving to be a banner year for Musgraves, who brought home all four of the trophies she was nominated for at this year's Grammy Awards, including the all-genre Album of the Year Award. She is also nominated for Female Artist of the Year and Album of the Year at the 2019 ACM Awards, which will take place on April 7.
