After evaluating the costs of various school supplies at 10 major retailers, FinanceBuzz released a list showcasing the best and worst pricing.

The average cost of purchasing all the items on the back-to-school supplies list - folders, notebooks, backpacks, pencils, and more - came to $106.73.

Michaels had the priciest school supplies, with the shopping list totaling a hefty $185.28 - nearly three times the cost of the same items at the cheapest store.

Amazon lovers will be bummed to hear that taking the convenient online route won't save them any money. In fact, Amazon was actually one of the most expensive places to do your back-to-school shopping. The cost to snag all the supplies from Amazon was $119.07.

Target has excellent prices and a good variety of supplies. The Minnesota based company came in third most affordable, costing you less than $100 to get all your school supplies.

The popular store also offers better prices than competitors on two different items: folders and pencils.

To get all your stuff from Dollar General, it'll cost about $70.50.

However, according to FinanceBuzz, shoppers may want to find their folders elsewhere, as DG’s price for that item was the highest of any store.
