One of these days, the road construction season in and around Sioux Falls will begin to scale back, but there are still several ongoing projects that continue to impact drivers.
The latest temporary traffic change is slated for Interstate 229.
Lane Closure Schedule
According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, beginning Tuesday (August 12) from 8:00 PM until 6:00 AM Wednesday (August 13), an overnight lane closure will be in place for the southbound driving lane on Interstate 229 near Exit 4 at Cliff Avenue.

A second overnight lane closure for this same area is scheduled from 8:00 PM Thursday (August 14) until 6:00 AM Friday (August 15).
Work in Progress
The overnight lane closures are planned for the contractor to set bridge girders for the new Interstate 229 southbound bridge at Exit 4. Motorists are reminded to use caution and reduce their speed while workers and equipment are present.
Project Timeline
This work is part of a $48 million project to reconstruct I-229 Exit 4 as a single-point urban interchange. The overall completion date is June 2027.
