Over the years, there have been several significant renovations in and around the Sioux Falls Regional Airport, but the number of operating gates at the facility has remained relatively unchanged.

Until now.

In November of 2022, the Airport Authority announced plans to expand the existing terminal to include more gates and departure lounges and now we're getting our first look at what the expansion might look like.

Sioux Falls Business Journal is reporting the plan will add at least five gates and that the airport is in the process of looking for a contractor to do the work, all while securing approval from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The tentative start date for the expansion is sometime in 2025 or 2026.
