Sioux Falls Loses Iconic Laundry Business After 124 Years In Operation
One of Sioux Falls' oldest businesses is closing its doors after more than a century.
Shipley's Garment Spa on West Ninth Street has announced it will cease operations on October 22nd after more than 124 years in business.

In an open letter to its 'Valued Customers', Shipley's owners Gerry and Susie Wingler outlined the factors that led to the decision and expressed thanks and gratitude to the clients that had kept the business open and family-owned since 1902.

After opening more than 120 years ago as the area's 'premier launderer, Shipley's branched out to include horse and buggy laundry delivery in 1927.

Effective immediately, Shipley's will no longer offer route services due to staffing shortages.
