Two men have been arrested in South Dakota for the alleged kidnapping of a North Carolina woman.

Beaufort County deputies began investigating on Monday (March 9) after a report that a 36-year-old intellectually disabled woman from the area was missing.

Deputies say they tracked the woman’s phone to a gas station in Mitchell, where she was found safe and unharmed.

Freddrick Corprew, 57, of Bath, and Jay Gurganus III, 43, of Washington, North Carolina, were taken to the Davison County Jail and later charged with second-degree kidnapping.

According to the authorities, they have agreed to be extradited to North Carolina

Plans are underway to reunite the victim with her family in North Carolina.
