Strange Sighting Near Sturgis: Did She See Bigfoot?

A South Dakota woman was driving home to Rapid City from Deadwood when she had an encounter with a 7-foot hairy being on the side of the road. The incident happened on June 23 on the curves leading into Sturgis around 10 pm, according to her statement.

Alarmingly, the creature was on two feet and towering over her car near a guardrail on Highway 14A.

"About 2.5 miles west the Aurora place turn off, a large animal was on two feet, easily clearing the top of my vehicle (greater than 6.5ft.) I saw it out my passenger side window. It came up out of no where." ~ witness

Like most of us would have done, she did not stop to investigate. But she did, however, return to scene the next morning to grab exact coordinates of the frightening incident. She then contacted the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) who interviewed her.

They found her story to be credible.

According to the investigator, "she was able to see the shoulders, chest and legs. The fur was brown with reddish undertones."

"It entered the roadway right as I was passing. Very dark brown, more red in undertone than gray so could not be mistaken as a large elk or deer. It was basically pitch black behind the vehicle so did not see which way it went. I was too scared to stop or turn around."

The story made its way to a national radio show called Coast to Coast with George Noory which gleaned further details. The woman had an "incredibly close encounter" with a suspected Sasquatch. Her car and the creature were only 2 feet apart and left her severely shaken.
