2 South Dakota, Minnesota Housing Markets Are ‘Serious Bargains’

For the past few years, it has been a seller's market in real estate, with a tighter inventory of homes leading to increased values in almost every market across the United States.

But there are still a precious few places where it is advantage: home buyer thanks to prices below the norm.

GoBankingRates just identified 15 housing markets in the U.S. that it classifies as 'serious bargains'.

According to data from Realtor.com, nearly 20 percent of the homes nationwide on the market underwent price reductions in February.

And in a select number of markets, including one in Minnesota and one in South Dakota, those prices are well below the state average.

The eastern Minnesota community of Hastings is toward the top of the list with an average home cost of $305,341, which is $7,179 below the state average.

That's the fourth-highest difference in America.

Not far behind is Brookings.

The average home costs $270,614 in South Dakota's fourth-largest city, which is $6,049 below the state average,

That's the sixth-best in the country.
