State Spelling Bee Coming Up This Month at Dakota Wesleyan

Spelling is one of those crucial elements of education that can actually impact your life for all of your life. In the area of communication good spelling is absolutely invaluable.

Dakota News Now is reporting that the State Spelling Bee is coming up later this month and is being hosted by South Dakota News Watch and Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell.

On March 29th, thirty-one elementary and middle school students will compete at DWU in Mitchell, with one of them advancing to the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. This is the 100th Anniversary of this long-running competition.

Dakota Wesleyan University states that "millions of students around the country and the world have had their lives touched by the spelling bee. It provides classroom materials to schools that are enrolled in the program".

Students develop confidence and gain experience in public speaking while getting to know some of their like-minded peers.

The South Dakota schools sending a student to the State Spelling Bee are:
