Sioux Falls Traffic Alert: Sycamore Avenue Closure Coming
Important Notice for Sioux Falls Residents and Commuters!
Beginning Friday, April 25, 2025, Sycamore Avenue will be closed between 69th Street and 85th Street to accommodate construction on South Veterans Parkway.
A signed detour will redirect traffic to Cliff Avenue and SD Highway 11.
This closure will remain in effect until project completion, anticipated in late 2026.
Project Details...
The South Veterans Parkway development is a collaborative effort between the City of Sioux Falls and the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT). This closure enables work on the second segment connecting Cliff Avenue to Sycamore Avenue, which began in March 2025.
The southern portion of Veterans Parkway is being constructed in phases, with each segment requiring approximately two years to complete.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to:
- Exercise caution near construction zones
- Observe reduced speed limits
- Consider alternative routes during this extended closure
