As summer approaches, Sioux Falls residents can look forward to the return of outdoor pool season!

The city of Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Department says that outdoor pools will be open beginning Friday, May 29, at 1 p.m., weather permitting.

The City of Sioux Falls will offer a variety of aquatic opportunities across the city, including outdoor pools, splash pads, spray parks and indoor aquatic facilities.

Outdoor pools will offer open swim hours daily from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Adults ages 18 and older can also enjoy lap swimming and water walking at Drake Springs Family

Aquatic Center weekdays from 11 a.m. to 12:55 p.m.

Several splash pads are already open, including the T. Denny Sanford Splash Pad at Jacobson Plaza and the splash pad at the Great Plains Zoo.

Additional splash pads at Hayward Park, Pioneer Park, and the Midco Aquatic Center are scheduled to open May 22, weather permitting.

The city is also introducing a new lottery system for summer swimming lesson registration.

Beginning May 19, families can rank preferred class times rather than competing in a first-come, first-served registration process.

The updated system is designed to create a fairer experience for participants and expand access to high-demand classes.

Annual swim passes are available now online and at select aquatic facilities.

The city operates nine outdoor aquatic facilities in addition to the Midco Aquatic Center and Westside Recreation Center, which provide year-round aquatic opportunities for the community.
