Warm and Dry Predictions for South Dakota
If these blazing-hot summer days have you dreaming of those cool, crisp, sweater-weather days of autumn ahead, you may need to keep dreaming a bit longer.
With an accuracy rate hovering around 80%, the Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting a warm and dry fall for most of South Dakota. The exception would be the most northeastern portion of the state, from just north of Sioux Falls up and over into Minnesota.

A National Trend: Warmer Days Ahead
South Dakota isn't alone. Much of the nation's heartland is expected to experience a warm, dry autumn. I'm okay with warm, but hot - not so much.
You may want to keep the sprinkler handy a little longer, too. Rainfall is expected to be below average across much of the region.
The only places where above-average rainfall is expected include: the West Coast, the central and northern Rockies, parts of Texas, and what they describe as "smaller pockets" of wet weather in Florida and the northeastern U.S.
