Help Sioux Falls Zoo Name The New Snow Leopard Baby!
Exciting news from Sioux Falls Great Plains Zoo! Their adorable snow leopard cub is taking her first steps into the public habitat, and they need YOUR help choosing her name!
Starting this week, visitors may catch glimpses of the cub and her mother, Denali, as they explore their outdoor space.
The pair will decide when they're ready to venture out, so patience and quiet observation are key.
On alternate days, father Strut will have access to the exhibit … true to nature, where male snow leopards don't raise their young.
Check the board inside the Asian Cat Pagoda daily to see which cats are on view.
Three Beautiful Names, One Special Cub
The Great Plains Zoo team has selected three meaningful Nepalese names honoring the snow leopard's native range:
- Asha (hope or wish)
- Isha (goddess or ruler)
- Maiya (little girl or dear one)
Cast Your Vote Today!

This is more than naming a cub...it's supporting conservation and creating connections that inspire protection of these endangered cats in the wild.
Snow leopards face threats from habitat loss and climate change, making every educational encounter at our zoo vital for their survival.
