You might want to rethink how you snack at your next flick.

A recent study conducted by Betway, an online casino, found that movie theater seats and cup holders harbor more bacteria than the average toilet seat.

Researchers sampled hundreds of theaters and discovered mold, bacteria, and other fungal growths contaminating the seats and cup holders.

Before concluding theater seats hosted more germs, scientists tested multiple toilet seats for comparison.

On average, the cup holders in movie theaters contained 2,396 bacterial colonies, which is 18 times the amount typically found on a toilet seat.

Given the potential health risks of these germs spreading through shared seats, the study advises moviegoers to follow proper hygiene etiquette like handwashing to minimize possible illness transmission.
