
Minneapolis Shines As A Top City For Women In 2025
What makes one city a better environment for women than another? A city that offers women looking for places with strong economic opportunity, health infrastructure, and quality of life. When you consider all those factors, Minneapolis is among the best.
In fact, in the latest Wallet Hub study (Best & Worst Cities for Women 2025), Minneapolis ended up in 8th place out of 182 cities across the country.

The criteria they used included two major categories: 1)Women's Economic & Social Well-being, and 2) Women's Healthcare & Safety. Within those categories, they compared things like job security for women, median earnings for female workers, and unemployment rates for women. They also considered the quality of women's hospitals, women's preventive healthcare, and much more.
When all the numbers were crunched, these were the Top 10 Cities for Women:
- Columbia, Maryland
- Seattle, Washington
- Overland Park, Kansas
- Raleigh, North Carolina
- South Burlington, Vermont
- Fremont, CA
- Virginia Beach, Virginia
- Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Durham, North Carolina
- Jersey City, New Jersey
Wallet Hub also recently looked at all 50 states in terms of being women-friendly (Wallet Hub Best and Worst States for Women), and Minnesota came in 2nd among all the states. That study considered the same two categories and subcategories, and Minnesota did very well there, too.
