Sioux Falls DDI Project – Oct 2023 Drone Flyover
Work on the diverging diamond interchange project at Interstate 29 and 41st Street in Sioux Falls is really taking shape. With all the concrete that has been poured since September, one can see clearly the intersecting of the east and westbound lanes that will lead drivers to cross the bridge in the opposite lane.
A median has been poured on the east side of the bridge on 41st Street. Traffic control signals and street lights have been installed.
Making a left turn from West Empire Pl between Chase Bank and Panda Express onto 41st Street will not be possible anymore. To make a left turn, drivers will have to use the intersection between Chick-fil-A and Men's Wearhouse with a traffic control signal.
I've noticed the concrete that was poured on the bridge has a deep texture to it that feels and sounds like you are driving over a washboard. Maybe research showed that an aggressive texture offers better-wet traction. All I know it vibrates my car so much that it feels like it's going to fall apart.
The project that started in 2022 is expected to be completed by the spring of 2024.
Carsen Bower from the South Dakota Drone YouTube channel is back with another drone flyover video of the project. Check it out below.
