Declutter For A Cause: Donate To Goodwill And Make A Difference
I love a good purge. Not the movie kind, but the cleaning out the closet kind. Organizing a messy space is a joy. Try telling that to my 10-year-old self, though. And getting stuff out of my space feels so good.
Part of big cleaning projects like this is donating the stuff I don't need anymore. My first thought is always Goodwill. I've shopped there for years, you never know what you may discover.

What Not to Donate to Goodwill
But, you can't just load up a truck and dump all your junk at the donation drop-off. Goodwill has rules it needs to follow, and some of them are kinda new, so a review is in order.
"It's hard to say "no thank you" to a donation when those donations help to fund Goodwill programs," Goodwill says, "However, we do need to refuse some items for being non-recyclable or containing hazardous materials. Other times...because it costs more to transport, repair, or refurbish than it can be sold for in our stores."
Even with all the items that Goodwill doesn't accept, there is still a long list of things they will take, like clothing, housewares, toys, and many electronics.
