My family and I decided to take a little Good Friday getaway that was sort of on the way to Grandma's house for Easter. After waterparking it up yesterday in Watertown we bummed around a little bit before leaving town.

It was quite strange, living 100 miles to the south, to see the remnant snow still on the ground clinging to its frozen life. In Sioux Falls most of our snow has been gone for a week. Even the piles where it gets stacked up.

Walking out of Target in flip flops and feeling the radiant heat of the sun on my skin while the temp was over 70 degrees, I saw what once had to be a very large pile of snow melting into the parking lot and draining back towards the store.

I have rebelled against winter before and wore flip flops in spite of the snow all around me. I've never done it in legitimately warm weather while looking at a pile of snow the height of a small car and the length of a school bus.

Surreal is the word for that.
