Researchers in Finland have determined that stepping on the scale as little as once a week helps in the battle of the bulge.
In fact, they found that the more a person weighs him or herself, the more weight they'll ultimately lose.
Quoting one of the researchers,
"Perhaps being forced to face the actual number scared them skinny."
Another theory is that the more serious dieters tended to be more vigilant, and those who gave up couldn't "handle the truth."
