Beresford Fire & Rescue crews came together late last week to rescue a scared damsel in distress...with four legs.

The call of duty goes beyond dangerous fires, car accidents, and scary medical emergencies. South Dakota fire and police teams across the Sioux Empire answer any calls for help. One rescue mission with the Beresford Fire & Rescue united the community and gave people a little hope in humanity.

In the "most cliche scenario," Beresford Fire & Rescue firefighters saved a small cat stuck in a tree. Sometimes, the story writes itself!

We don’t just answer the call for fire, medical emergencies and motor vehicle accidents. This morning we received a call for help involving the most cliche scenario in the fire service. Cat in a tree. The mission was a success and the furry feline was returned to the ground safely!

Community members are praising the Beresford Fire & Rescue for all their heroic efforts no matter how big or small a mission is.

Beresford Fire & Rescue had a busy weekend, along with other South Dakota emergency crews who battled a February wildfire in Union County. Efforts to stop and contain the fire were successful thanks to all South Dakota first responders and local volunteers!
