Sioux Falls has been experiencing some of the coldest temperatures in the city's history. This weather serves as a good reminder to be thankful for all of the blessings we have in our lives, like warm clothes and shelter to protect us from the brisk cold air.

Unfortunately, there are members in the Sioux Falls community who have not been so lucky in life. That's why it's so important to help those in need to warm their spirits. One organization that is looking for some extra help this winter is the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House.

The mission at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House is simple:

TO FULFILL THE GOSPEL CALL TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS AS OURSELVES BY RECOGNIZING THE GOD-GIVEN DIGNITY OF EACH PERSON AND PROVIDING ESSENTIAL LIFE SERVICES TO THOSE IN NEED.

The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House in Sioux Falls opens its doors as a place of safety, wellness, community, and dignity for anyone experiencing homelessness. The staff at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House is there for anyone who needs a fresh start in life.

The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House is asking for the community's help in a big way. With colder weather here in the Sioux Empire, they need winter hats and gloves for their residents. They are also running low on other supplies like lotion, chapstick, and shampoo.

The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House has an entire Amazon wishlist that is updated regularly. Other items on this list include toilet paper, Kleenex, Band-Aids, and toothbrushes.

People are encouraged to drop off their donations to the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House at 101 North Indiana Avenue between 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. For any questions, people can call 605-809-8424. The wishlist can be found here.

It has been a true honor and privilege of mine to serve as a volunteer and an advocate for the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House. They do amazing work in the community. The guests at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House will appreciate your gifts so much!

The Coldest Temperatures in Sioux Falls History

When a polar vortex rolls through Sioux Falls, it can get even the heartiest dreaming of indoor fires, baking, and hot chocolate.

Mr. Bendo is tough enough but for the love of Pete, someone put a scarf on the Statue of David!

All this icy chatter had us wondering about the coldest days ever recorded in Sioux Falls. Here is the historical data from the National Weather Service with the coldest temps ever recorded in Sioux Falls since record-keeping began in 1893.
