RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Heavy rainfall has led to flash flooding overnight in parts of western South Dakota.

National Weather Service reports show up to 5 inches of rain in some areas. Low-lying areas of Rapid City flooded, and some homes had flooded basements. Some roads in the region were covered by water.

The weather service issued flash flood warnings in the region Wednesday night, and a flood watch was in effect for west central South Dakota through Friday night.
