Goal Is Sweet Success at Sioux Falls Child Care Fundraiser
The mission is to help take care of children from low-income families. Your opportunity to support this ministry is at hand.
Compassion Child Care is one of eight different Christian organizations operating inside the Sioux Falls Ministry Center. Dawson Muska is the Director of Development for the group and is raising money for their food budget with a special event on Saturday. “We have 92 kids and it’s quite a bit of money to provide those lunches.” The figure is in the neighborhood of $40,000.
A good chunk of that support is built at the “Cookies and Milk Art Exhibition” on Saturday night. Muska has been combing the ranks to find pieces to display. “I’ve been running around for the last six to eight months to local churches and schools getting kids to create artwork which they donate to Compassion Child Care.”
The age range of children submitting the art ranges from pre-school to middle school displaying a variety of artwork styles. Muska says the theme probably had a lot to do with the quality of the art. “Our theme is called ‘Wash Those Feet’ and what we threw out to the kids is (the question of) how do we wash other people’s feet?” The concept stems from the Biblical account of Jesus washing his disciples’ feet prior to the Last Supper before his crucifixion.
With a title like “Cookies and Milk Art Exhibition” you can envision what the menu will be at this event. It is free to attend and will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Saturday April 11 at Vance Thompson Vision off Fifty-Seventh Street adjacent to the tunnels that burrow under I-229.
