Tis the season for goblins, ghouls, witches, and vampires roaming around the Sioux Empire. There are actual ghosts that reportedly haunt Sioux Falls, particularly in the downtown area.

There are always spooky ghost stories that people like to share during the Halloween season. One Downtown Sioux Falls bar has a ghost story that's sure to frighten anyone. More likely than not, this ghost has made her presence known as people dance the night away.

What Sioux Falls Bar is Haunted? Should I Be Scared?

Wileys has a “friend” who likes to hang out with people on the dance floor and at the bar. Her name is Eleanor.  You can't see her, but you can feel her aura in the air.

Eleanor knows how to make an entrance at Wiley's Bar. But this time, Eleanor made an unexpected and shocking appearance late last week. Instead of hitting the dance floor, Eleanor wanted to share her singing talents with the audience. Some people even said they heard her hit the high notes!

The mic went cold… the lights flickered… and just like that, she was gone.

For the most part, Eleanor seems to be a friendly ghost and just likes to have a little fun with everyone who enters Wileys. Staff at the popular downtown Sioux Falls bar describe Eleanor as the "number one regular customer that never leaves." Even Eleanor knows that Wileys is "the spot!"

The hospitable crew at Wileys is happy to share their experiences and personal stories about Eleanor.  All you have to do is ask!

Haunted Locations and Scary Legends Around Sioux Falls

Halloween is steeped in scary traditions. Trick-or-Treating, frightening costumes, local actors in "haunted" houses, and the pitch-black darkness of area corn mazes.

However, if we set out to find the real haunted areas what would we find? Over the last 30 years that I have lived in Sioux Falls, a few locations still gain attention as being haunted.

And yes, a handful of thrill-seeking people will show up on our favorite eerie night for what could be a viral video moment or experience a misty phantom first-hand.
Let's take a little tour of the more famous hauntings around Sioux Falls. Turn on the lights and cue the Cowardly Lion: "I do believe in spooks, I do believe in spooks..."

Some of these places are located on private property. If you are interested in adding some of these spooky spots to your haunted travel bucket list, make sure to be mindful of the residents who still reside here...may they be living or dead.
