Let's go back, you and I, to the 12th Precinct in Greenwich Village and take a look into the Detective room.

Yep, there they are: Fish, Harris, Yemana, Inspector Lugar, oh and of course Barney.

From the mid 1970's to the early 1980's we all took a weekly trip to that place, in the form of the hit TV comedy 'Barney Miller'.

Hal Lindon was Barney, and while I guess he was the star of the show, it was truly an ensemble cast.

My favorite? Why, it had to be Wojo! Oh, he had a name with a ton of vowels and syllables, but to us fans of the show, he was Wojo.

Max Gail was the actor who portrayed this loveable, semi-dimwitted detective. Maybe not the brightest bulb on the 12th Precinct tree, but for me the brightest character on this great comedy.

So whatever happened to Max Gail?

Well, according to Wikipedia, in addition to his other less famous acting roles, Max has a production company (Full Circle) that puts out documentaries on such subjects as Agent Orange, Native Americans and nuclear issues.

At the age of 76 now and living in California, Max Gail gave us on of the most beloved characters in TV history.
