Former South Dakota Resident’s Journey Cut Short on ‘The Voice’
It's the end of the road for one former South Dakota resident on the 23rd season of NBC's The Voice.
Jej Vinson, formerly of Flandreau, was once again competing on national television during this season of NBC's The Voice. When Jej first came on the show, he was part of Kelly Clarkson's team in season 16 and reached the Top 13. Jej made a comeback this year on The Voice as a member of the trio Sheer Element. Unfortunately, this return for Jej was short-lived.
The Battle Rounds for The Voice just kicked off this week. The singers in this competition are so strong and all the coaches recognized that. Although the video is short, Jej Vinson and his group Sheer Element had a tough battle with teammate Marcos Covos. Why did Kelly Clarkson pick Marcos over Sheer Element? Well...it wasn't an easy decision for her.
Ultimately, she kept Marcos in the competition because he can also sing in Spanish. Kelly explained that element alone separates Marcos from the rest. However, she did highlight the "powerful" voices of all singers in this Battle Round.
It's a huge bummer that Jej Vinson and his group Sheer Element won't continue on this season of The Voice. The group posted a sweet message on its Instagram page wishing Marcos the best of luck and thanking Kelly Clarkson for "taking a chance" on the trio.
South Dakota is always cheering you on, Jej! Keep chasing your dreams.
There are still lots of great singers to watch this season! Watch NBC's The Voice on KDLT Monday nights at 7 PM and Tuesday nights at 8 PM.
