Experiment Time: See What This Extreme Cold Can Do

Todd Heitkamp, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, made this video of cold weather experiments. He uses a wet t-shirt and peeled and unpeeled bananas to show what these below zero temps can do.

It's very interesting to see, and to imagine if it that was your skin! I finally understand why mom got so wound up when I didn't wear my hat and gloves.

You get to see how fast a frozen shirt will freeze, crystallize water and what the cold does to a banana.
