If you listen to the show in any sort of regular fashion, then you know my main 'driving in Sioux Falls' pet peeve is drivers not yielding to a U-turn when they right turn on red.

However, there is another driving pet peeve that is a regular occurrence. Results Radio is located at 5100 S. Tennis Lane, so for me to go home, I need to turn left onto Louise off of 59th street.

As you can see in the photo, I am waiting to turn left at the stoplight. This particular picture was taken after the lights went through maybe three full rotations. Why did I have to wait so long to turn left? Well, let me tell you.

The cars that had been in front of me previously, waited to turn left until the light turned yellow, even though we had green. Why did they do that? Because, for some reason, even though there are three lanes to our left, they won't turn unless it is absolutely clear.

Sure, the cars ahead of us might be going straight, so wait for them, but if they have a blinker on to turn to their right, it is, in fact, possible for both drivers to turn because, as I stated before, there are three lanes to turn. If everybody maintains their lane, then changes lanes after the turn, there is no need to wait for three full light cycles to get to turn left!

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. I hope that made sense. I don't know about you, but I feel better after getting that off my chest.
