It's not every day a person has a chance to win $1.1 billion. The odds of even winning this Mega Millions are 1 in 302 million. It's a risky chance. But hey...all you need is just one lottery ticket to change your life.

At the time of Tuesday night's drawing, the Mega Millions total was the third-largest jackpot in Mega Millions' history at $1.1 billion. It was also the fifth-largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history. Before the drawing, Mega Millions officials estimated the cash option to be around $568.7 million. Can you imagine winning this?! Well, right now no one really can. Why? Apparently, no one has won the big money with the Mega Millions since October 14th of 2022.

Early Wednesday morning, Mega Millions officials posted the winning numbers from Tuesday night's drawing. Here are the numbers from the winning ticket:

7,13, 14, 15, 18, and the Mega Ball number is 9

The Mega Millions does a great job posting the winning states after the drawing on its website. So did any lottery players in South Dakota or Iowa win big? Unfortunately, there were no big Mega Millions winners after this recent drawing. The winning tickets from Tuesday night were located in California, Florida, Kansas, Massachusetts (two winning tickets), Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio (two winning tickets), Oregon, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Although South Dakota or Iowa tickets did not win a piece of the pie, someone has yet to win it all with the Mega Millions Jackpot. The total has rolled over for the next Mega Millions drawing on Friday, January 13th. Someone has a chance to win...$1.35 billion. CBS News is reporting that if someone "won at that amount, it would be the second largest jackpot in Mega Millions history." The cash value of the prize is $707.9 million. Friday the 13th won't be too unlucky if someone wins this prize!

If you're on the fence about purchasing a ticket, the South Dakota Lottery says there's always hope! In fact, a post from its Facebook page tells lottery players they did have a Mega Millions winner in Rapid City last Tuesday. That ticket was worth a grand total of $4 million!

Anything can happen! The Mega Millions drawing is this Friday the 13th at 11 PM ET. South Dakota Lottery players have until 10 PM on Friday to purchase their tickets. Iowa Lottery players have until 8:59 PM due to the drawing at 10 PM.

Good luck to all the South Dakota Lottery and Iowa Lottery players!
