COVID-19 Vaccine Found to be 90 percent Effective

Political divisiveness has many people at each other's throats. But one thing that everyone on the planet with a brain in their head is that they want to coronavirus pandemic to go away. There was good news on that front today.

Pharmaceutical company Pfizer made an announcement Monday that they have made great strides on a vaccine for COVID-19. In a phase three clinical trial, the vaccine has shown to be more than 90 percent effective against the virus.

The vaccine is not like the usual single-dose vaccine. It is actually two does that are administered 21 days apart. The two shots are not different, they are the same thing just given with a three-week gap in between.

“Today is a great day for science and humanity. The first set of results from our Phase three COVID-19 vaccine trial provides the initial evidence of our vaccine’s ability to prevent COVID-19,” said Dr. Albert Bourla, Pfizer Chairman and CEO said in a statement. "The case split between vaccinated individuals and those who received the placebo indicates a vaccine efficacy rate above 90%, at seven days after the second dose. This means that protection is achieved 28 days after the initiation of the vaccination, which consists of a 2-dose schedule."

Would you take the vaccine when it first comes out? That's a tough question but I think I am inclined to take the vaccine when it's available.
