Country Music Legend Roy Clark Could Play Anything, Everything
Those of us of a 'certain age' remember Roy Clark as a co-host of 'Hee Haw'. Oh, I remember every week back on that little farm by Leota, Minnesota we would turn on the old black & white and laugh along with Roy and Buck and the cast, and listen to the biggest country stars of the day. Yep, 'Hee Haw' was a staple of our TV set, along with shows like 'The Beverly Hillbillies', 'Andy Griffith Show' and 'Gunsmoke'.
But some folks may not realize what a world class musician this guy was!
This classic video is from 'The Muppet Show'. That's right, the legendary show that featured Kermit, Miss Piggy and the rest of the Muppets. They would have guest stars on each week, having fun, making jokes and generally causing Muppet mayhem.
But in this particular clip, Roy highlights his musical skills. And what skills they are! As you can tell, Roy Clark could pretty much pick up virtually any instrument and play it (and not just play it, but play it better than anyone else!).
Roy is in the Country Music Hall of Fame, and deservedly so. He had several chart topping hit's ('Come Live With Me' and 'Thank God and Greyhound' are personal favorites). could spin a yarn like few others could, and was a guest host on 'The Tonight Show' several times as well. But don't overlook what this legendary artist could do with a musical instrument, any musical instrument.
Oh, and don't miss the trumpet. Yep, Roy on the trumpet.
