
Check out a South Dakota State Park Fourth of July Event
Several communities around the area are celebrating the 4th of July with fireworks displays or big celebrations. Here's a list of some of the events in our area. If your community is doing something special for the 4th, please karla@mix97-3.com and i'll put it on the list for everyone to see.
- GREATEST SHOW ON H20 - At Catfish Bay Waterski Park, I-90, exit 399. 2pm.
- 4TH OF JULY FAMILY PARADE AND PICNIC - At Falls Park. 8am is the 5K run/walk, parade at 10am beginning at 13th Street and traveling down Phillips Avenue to Falls Park. At 11am there will be a free lunch for the first 5,000 people. At 11:30am, the Sioux Falls Municipal Band will perform. At noon there will be a short program. At 12:30pm Mogen’s Heroes will perform and at 1:30pm “Romeo and Juliet” will be performed in the Queen Bee Mill.
- LENNOX OLD-FASHIONED 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION - The celebration kicks off on July 3rd with a Cruise Night on Main Street with antique and classic cars, then a street dance with Ledfoot Lucy at 6:15pm and Judd Hoos at 9pm. Fourth of July events include the Firecracker road race at 8am, 4th of July parade at 10:30am, Arts in the Park, Lennox Municipal band concert at 8pm, fireworks at dusk.
- SUMMER PORCH SERIES - 5-8pm at Strawbale Winery near Renner. An evening of music, art, food, wine and fun. Entertainment is Ron and Jane Cote. Admission is $5 per car.
- INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION - 2-4pm at the Dakota Discovery Museum on the Dakota Wesleyan Campus in Mitchell. Enjoy ice cream, watermelon, lemonade and live music. Admission is free. Call 605-996-2122 for more info.
- MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY AT THE ZOO - All day, active and retired U.S.military personnel get free admission to the Great Plains Zoo.
- MENNO, SOUTH DAKOTA 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION - Events include a road race at 8am, Parade at 11am, BBQ following the parade, baseball game at 7:30pm with fireworks following the game.
- HARRISBURG FIRE DEPARTMENT FIREWORKS DISPLAY - North of Liberty School at dusk.
- 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS IN MITCHELL - At dusk at Lake Mitchell.
- 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS DISPLAY IN MADISON - Enjoy the fireworks starting at 10pm over the north shore of Lake Herman.
- 4th of July Campsite Decorating Contest - July 4-7, Oakwood Lakes State Park near Volga, Lake Poinsett Recreation Area near Arlington and Lake Thompson Recreation Area near Lake Preston. Info: 605-627-5441
