Cam now has her very own piece of history on her bookshelf, thanks to one very generous gift-giver who happened to love her video for “Mayday.”

The singer posted a photo on Instagram showing an original copy of book not only written by Amelia Earhart — whom Cam portrays in the music video — but actually signed by the author herself.

Cam was understandably blown away by the special gift from a fan and couldn’t contain her gratitude and excitement in the photo’s caption.

"WHOA. Absolutely the most generous gift ever,” she writes. "Thank you, Kenny Corbett, for loving the Mayday music video and for trusting me with this treasure. I promise to take care of her and to keep this little light of mine shining, too."

“Mayday” is the second single from Cam’s full-length record Untamed, inspired partly by a bad relationship.

“You’re fighting back and forth with yourself about wanting to leave, but not really having the guts to do it,” she explains. “I had a boyfriend that told me, ‘No one’s going to love you like I loved you,’ and [I thought], ‘That’s so terrifying.’ You’re so afraid, so you stay in this crappy relationship. You’ve got to get out.”

The metaphor is extended in the video as an adaptation of Earhart’s story with Cam playing the courageous female pilot, eventually going down and sinking into the sea.

“I’m a 1930s lady pilot,” Cam tells People. “I take off and it’s not a flight that ends well, and that’s where ‘Mayday’ comes back in. The plane crashes, I sink, pieces of plane sink.”

Cam is currently on the road with Dierks Bentley as part of his Somewhere on a Beach Tour.
